2002年实现第三产业增加值6000万元，建成了沿“宝曹”公路三产带和商业一条街，进镇建房经商人数逐渐增多。建筑业长期保持全县领先地位，深圳、北京、天津、徐州等新老基地不断扩展，年建筑施工产值达4.5亿元，年创劳务收入6800万元。同时，集镇建设取得了新进展。近几年来，着力新镇区的规划和建设，形成了较为完善的三纵八横道路骨架，集镇功能日趋完善，商贸区、教育区、文化区、工业区、住宅区等布局合理，功能配套，是扬州市新型小城镇建设之一。
